SkillsIQ is in the process of drafting Industry Summaries for Wholesale and Retail. This information will be used to develop information on industry complexity, identify early engagement opportunities and key issues to be addressed by Industry Clusters next year.

The LDSC CEO, Michael Taremba will be in the Goldfields-Esperance Region from the 18 July 2022. Michael will be visiting with organisations, employers and associations to gain a perspective on regional specific issues affecting the workforce within our industries.

The Re-engagement Incentive was introduced by the State Government on 1 July 2020 to support apprentices and trainees whose training contract was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Incentive offered financial assistance to employers who re-engaged displaced apprentices and trainees from the Department of Training and Workforce Development’s (DTWD) Out of Contract Register. Since 1 July 2020, over 5,000 displaced apprentices and trainees have been helped to become re-engaged to continue their training, and over 1,500 employers assisted to secure skilled workers.
The Public Safety Industry Reference Committee has submitted the Case for Endorsement and draft materials for the Defence Training Package (Release 5.0) to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee for their consideration. The proposed materials from the projects below address priority skills needs for the Defence Industry.
The Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) has recently launched their National Mentoring Programme which will run annually from August to March every year. Applications are now open for Mentors and Mentees to register to take the next steps in their supply chain careers.

The Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) has advised that it is intending to advertise from the Monday 11 July 2022 the 2023 – 2025 Jobs and Skills WA Training Programs (TWDV0349/2022) tender to establish the apprenticeship, traineeship, Priority Industry Training (PIT) and Participation program panels.

The Aviation Industry Reference Committee has submitted the Case for Endorsement and draft Training Package materials for the Air Traffic Control, Aviation Supervision, Chief Remote Pilot and Commercial Pilot Helicopter projects to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee for their consideration. The ABS is seeking input on proposed options to address key areas of concern identified by stakeholders in relation to the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO).
The proposed options relate to changes to the concept and measurement of skill in the ANZSCO to better reflect the contemporary Australian labour market. The ABS is working with several Australian Government agencies to update ANZSCO and is currently inviting submissions to ensure they are supported by users of the classification.
