To employ an apprentice or trainee contact an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider. AASNs are contracted by the Australian Government to give advice and help with recruiting, training and retaining apprentices and trainees. Click here to contact an AASN provider.
Following consultation over September to October 2021, Australian Industry Standards (AIS) have advised, the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC) have recommended that a national apprenticeship be established utilising the existing Certificate III in Driving Operations (TLI 31221).

Following the request for feedback, Australian Industry Standards (AIS) hosted a webinar on Friday 8 October 2021 to unpack and clarify the proposed Heavy Vehicle Driver Apprenticeship. This was attended by more than 200 participants nationwide. The LDSC Chair, Cathi Andrews participated as one of the four members of the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC). The proposed Heavy Vehicle Drivers Apprenticeship has been developed in response to industry’s call to professionalise the Heavy Vehicle Driver occupation. Feedback has now closed on the consultation paper, however the LDSC will keep you apprised of further developments. Thank you to those who provided the LDSC with insights into the proposed apprenticeship.
