Work is underway to provide assistance to employers and employees looking to transition into other careers before native forestry logging ends in 2024. Although the LDSC is currently not involved in this process, there is potential for many of these skilled and experienced workers to be suitable to enter into Transport and Logistics (TLI) roles using these funded transition pathways. With many of these workers already familiar with the manual handling aspects needed for TLI types of roles, as well as possessing other transferrable skills and some of the licences (Such as LR, MR, HR, MR, HC, MC etc) required to be successful in TLI careers.

Following consultation over September to October 2021, Australian Industry Standards (AIS) have advised, the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC) have recommended that a national apprenticeship be established utilising the existing Certificate III in Driving Operations (TLI 31221).
