Importantly, this will mean existing qualified Trainers and Assessors will not be required to complete any qualification upgrades. Thank you to all who have provided feedback into the first round of consultations for the VET in Schools Register. It is anticipated a second round of consultations will occur in min- January and a copy of the extract will be emailed to interested stakeholders for their endorsement. Watch this space for further updates.
As a reminder registrations will be closing soon for the annual RTO Forum on 2 December 2022 for a half day (Agenda to follow). The LDSCs CEO, Michael Taremba will provide an opening address regarding LDSCs future directions. Guest speakers will include presenters from the Training Accreditation Council (TAC), Australian Industry Standards (AIS) and the National Centre for Vocational Education and Research (NCVER) who will provide updates and guidance on their various areas.
The Forum will also provide an opportunity for participants to discuss issues and opportunities within their respective industry areas which will form part of our feedback to next years’ State Priority Occupation List and the development of our Industry Profiles for 2023. The register details all vocational education and training qualifications available for WA secondary school students, industry advice for schools and RTOs on the suitability of qualifications students, and delivery requirements to meet industry standards. It aims to assist schools and RTOs to select qualifications that are more will help students to transition effectively to further training or employment. Click here to access the register. We are currently evaluating a proposal to vary an existing Class B Traineeship (TLI31216 Certificate III Driving Operations) to a Class A Heavy Vehicle Driving Apprenticeship (TLI31221 Certificate III in Driving Operations) through an Establishment and Variation of Apprenticeship (EVAC) process via the STB. As our initial consultations identified differing suitability needs for WA stakeholders, in particular for the Bus and Dangerous Goods sectors, further evaluation is required to ensure the proposed apprenticeship meets the needs of WA employers across all industries. As well as determining any potential impacts to training arrangements or business requirements. Western Australia's best and brightest stars in the vocational education and training (VET) sector will be celebrated at the prestigious WA Training Awards 2022. Applications are now open for this year's awards, which recognise the outstanding achievements of apprentices, trainees, employers and training organisations.
