We were delighted to see an incredible turnout of RTOs representing our diverse industry coverage areas on Friday 3 December 2021 at the LDSC annual RTO Forum. With at least representative from each industry sector: Maritime, Retail, Aviation, Road Transport, Rail, Warehousing and Logistics. A thank you to all our presenters who provided an update on their respective areas with insight into what is occurring for their organisations next year:
Mental Health is an area consistently raised in industry consultations with the LDSC as a critical aspect to supporting those in Truck Driver roles. Injury Matters has released their first podcast through their “Mental and Physical Safety (MaPS) on our Roads” program, which is dedicated to supporting the mental health needs of the heavy vehicle industry. Injury Matter's current campaign, Service Your Mind encourages heavy vehicle operators to learn what good mental health looks like for them, to take time to adjust after a long day and how/where to reach out for support.

Following consultation over September to October 2021, Australian Industry Standards (AIS) have advised, the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC) have recommended that a national apprenticeship be established utilising the existing Certificate III in Driving Operations (TLI 31221).
