On behalf of the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC), its Technical Advisory Committee has considered all stakeholder feedback and revised nine draft Units of Competency for the Crane High Risk Work Licence project.
At the request of Safe Work Australia, the units have been aligned to existing requirements for high-risk work licences for crane operators as set out in Schedule 4 of the model WHS Regulations. The Customs Broking, Driving Instruction and Materiel and Deployment Logistics projects have commenced and the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC) is forming a Technical Advisory Committee for each project.
The Rail and Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committees have submitted the Case for Endorsement and draft materials for the Transport and Logistics Training Package (Release 10.0) to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee for their consideration.
Following industry consultation and research, Australian Industry Standards (AIS) have released Industry Outlooks for 2021 for the following sectors:

The LDSC team recently attended the Workforce of the Future: Getting the Qualifications Right on the 28 May 2021. The webinar had over 800 attendees across Australia, representing State and Territory Government agencies, RTOs, Training Councils and other industry stakeholders. The webinar provided a discussion from the perspective of three industry leaders from the Skills Organisations Pilots on what needs to be done to improve the national VET qualifications.

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) has recently formed a panel of national associations chosen to deliver the PaTH Business Placements Partnerships Trial, which will be looking at new ways for young people to find employment.
