Following iMove’s Freight data requirements study project, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications (DIRDC) has launched a prototype of the National Freight Data Hub.
The Data Hub is an important step to improving the national freight and logistics landscape for freight operators, allowing industry to realise the benefits on offer through effective use of data (i.e. accessing information about traffic volumes, congestion, road conditions and rest area usage to improve route planning and road safety). In order for this endeavour to be successful industry involvement is crucial.
