The Federal Government opened applications to 31 March 2022 for the operation of eleven Industry Clusters to replace the 67 Industry Reference Committees (IRC) and six Skills Service Organisations (SSO). Industry Clusters will be groups of aligned industries with a strategic leadership role to identify, forecast and respond to the current and emerging skills needs and workforce challenges of their industries. Industry Clusters will strengthen employer leadership and engagement in the national VET system and drive collaboration to meet the evolving needs of industry and employers. It is anticipated an independent assurance function will replace the Australian Industry and Skills Committee by 1 January 2023.
