Phase 2 of the TAE consultations have concluded, on the 2 May 2022 the draft TAE training products will go out for public review. On the 28 June 2022 the reviewed post-public review TAE training products will go out for public validation.

The Federal government has started to roll out a $7.5 million advertising campaign promoting the value of VET skills. With the theme, 'We, the skilled', the campaign is scheduled to run until June 30 and outlines the benefits of VET skills and careers and includes case studies and perspectives from employers and students.
Click here for more information on the VET skills campaign. Over the next decade, more than $1 billion will be invested by the Federal Government to upgrade 73 Australian Defence Force (ADF) Reserve and Cadet facilities across Australia.
The infrastructure investment will support the growth of the ADF Cadets by 10 percent over the next year and is just one component of a number of initiatives being implemented to enhance the cadet program, such as; o Defence will increase numbers in existing cadet units create new units to complement broader Government initiatives supporting youth development and skilling. Future cadets will be engaged in: o STEM-focused activities including cyber security, virtual reality simulation, robotics, and flight simulation to supplement traditional skills developed through the program.

Australian Industry Standards have advised the draft Training Package materials for the Commercial Pilot Helicopter project are available and they are seeking stakeholder feedback. The draft materials include the following changes which address priority skill needs of the sector:
Australian Industry Standards (AIS) have advised they are seeking stakeholder feedback on the revised draft Training Package materials for the Driving Instruction project, including one qualification, nine updated Units of Competency and three new Skill Sets.
The Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training is an amalgamation of the existing Certificate IV qualifications in Transport and Logistics, Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction; Heavy Vehicle Driving Instruction; and Motorcycle Riding Instruction. The qualification now includes these specialised streams. These changes will facilitate a more aligned pathway for driver trainers and enable mobility of vehicle instructors across multiple driver training sectors. The revised materials include updates to four Qualifications, five Skill Sets and 40 Units of Competency. These draft products address changes in technology and Defence processes, including providing an aligned career pathway for Defence and integrated logistics support personnel to enhance workforce mobility across the sector. We are currently evaluating a proposal to vary an existing Class B Traineeship (TLI31216 Certificate III Driving Operations) to a Class A Heavy Vehicle Driving Apprenticeship (TLI31221 Certificate III in Driving Operations) through an Establishment and Variation of Apprenticeship (EVAC) process via the STB. As our initial consultations identified differing suitability needs for WA stakeholders, in particular for the Bus and Dangerous Goods sectors, further evaluation is required to ensure the proposed apprenticeship meets the needs of WA employers across all industries. As well as determining any potential impacts to training arrangements or business requirements. We are looking to expand our Industry networks.
