CBH is a Western Australian Co-operative that is owned by WA grain growing businesses. CBH's core business includes storage and handling, marketing, trading, and fertilizer. When in operation, CBH has a network of more than 100-grain receival sites across WA and four export port terminals, with a rail fleet dedicated to the transfer of grain to the port terminals. This half day (9.30 - 12) tour will take students through a working receival centre, speaking to staff about the science and technology behind the transfer and exportation of WA grains and the multiple career paths that are on offer. Dates for the event 12th September 2023 (Booked) 19th October 2023 Student numbers are limited to 25 and PPE is required. Learn more about this experience Training Minister Simone McGurk has announced the 45 finalists for the WA Training Awards 2023. These annual awards recognize exceptional achievements in the vocational education and training sector, highlighting the best apprentices, trainees, employers, and training organizations in the state. The awards cover 13 categories, with 31 finalists competing for eight individual awards and 14 finalists contending for five organization categories. The winners of the individual awards will receive $3,000 to further their training or kick-start their careers, while the organization winners will be recognized as industry leaders.
Through its engagement with the WA Training Awards as a judge, the LDSC was impressed with the quality of all the finalists this year and wishes them all the best of luck. The winners will be announced in September and may go on to represent WA at the Australian Training Awards in Hobart in November. The purpose of the Industry Skills Priorities Paper is to seek feedback from industry stakeholders on a summary of the key industry and skills-related trends, domestically and internationally that have been identified for each of the four main industries (Transport and Logistics, Rail, Maritime and Aviation) inclusive of the emerging sectors of Omnichannel Logistics and Distribution; and Air and Space Transport and Logistics. The main themes in the Industry Skills Priorities paper are drawn from desktop research, and targeted industry consultation since ISA commenced operations in June 2023. This information, along with feedback from stakeholders will be used by ISA in the development of the four 2023 Industry Initial Workforce Plan and prioritise work on each industry’s components of the Training Products and workforce development. Access the Plan here The ARA is calling on all young rail professionals aged 35 and under to consider the opportunity to serve on the Young Leaders Advisory Board (Y-LAB) for the period 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2025 before applications close 5.00pm AEST on Friday 28 April 2023.
The Young Leaders Advisory Board (Y-LAB) was established in 2019 to harness the ideas of young talent in the rail industry to inform the issues, projects and priorities the ARA pursues. Y-LAB reports to the ARA Board and provides regular updates and advice to support our advocacy agenda. The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations has released a Request for Proposal for the Launch into Work Employer Panel 2022–28 on AusTender. The department is seeking responses from businesses interested in becoming members of the Launch into Work Employer Panel (the Employer Panel). The Employer Panel will be established by April 2023 and cease on 30 June 2028.
Members of the Employer Panel may use Launch into Work projects to recruit at least 30 eligible job seekers per year into vacant entry-level roles within their business. Projects are co-designed with the department and tailored to the entry-level roles being filled. They will include the training, practical workplace activities and mentoring necessary to build the skills and confidence of participants, so they can move directly into employment in the business at the end of the project.
